San Antonio, TX-based percussionist and improviser Dane Rousay creates a succinct, radically experimental two-track EP titled 'IMP / ENV'. Side A, “IMP”, is a free improvised drum and percussion-object piece - Rousay's familiar territory - but Side B, “ENV”, a field recording and contact microphone piece, is a departure from their previous work. Rousay describes it as “a piece where I monitored my amplified heart rate in different environments while field recording those environments simultaneously.”

After debuting on last year’s TROJ compilation EP with “Listen, The Wind Has Something To Say”, 20 year old Czech musician and visual artist S I T R A returns to Colour8 Records (and reinforces his statement of intent) with the entrancing ‘Listen To The Wind‘ EP, a collection of five lush, beguiling and gentle tracks.
S I T R A’s artistic sensibilities are at the fore here as he constructs vivid and beautiful soundscapes centred around subtle field-recordings and colourful synths. While ambiance and found-sound are the building blocks of the tracks on 'Listen To The Wind', the Czech musician branches out and finds engaging melodic extensions of these simple sonic stems adding a depth and substance that reward repeated listening. Prodding beats feature on a couple tracks, while singer FRAU features on “Second Floor Apartment”, her ethereal vocals adding a human voice to a world of hypnotic natural sounds.

We’re stoked to welcome LA-based Irish native Mike Slott to the Colour8 family. His Mirror I Mirror release, an ambient EP he self-released last year is now available on all streaming platforms and also on a limited edition of cassette tapes via Colour8. For the uninitiated, we've been fans of Mike since he was one half of Heralds Of Change and, imho, his 2009 album, Lucky9teen still shines beyond bright and is an essential listen for all. Mirror I Mirror is a short EP featuring IV meditative, crystalline compositions. Within, find beautiful bright textures, digital flutters, scenic soundscapes and cathartic drones. This is music for meditation, reflection and introspection and we'd encourage private headphone listening.
